Ask Dr. Mac provides a valuable lessons in managing people and the emotional rollercoaster that accompanies those experiences. I appreciated the book because unlike many other management self help books, the author gives a real sense of feelings and self illusions that can happen when managing people for the first time. I found the lessons applicable regardless of the situation: how to communicate with people authentically and with respect; not to make assumptions; and trusting people to find the right answers themselves given an opportunity. It’s a straightforward read and the lessons are easily graspable. The summary at the end of the books is especially handy to review from time to time.

This book is an inspirational story about a new leader who learns to communicate with his employees to empower them to do and be better…without using all of the annoying management lingo. Justin’s story can’t help but force reflection on your own management practices.I recommend this book for new and old manager’s alike. There is so much to take away from Justin’s story.
