I’m SSgt David Gomez,USAF, Active Duty, stationed at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. The first time that I read this book, I was stationed at Osan AB, South Korea for a 1 year remote tour. I had never supervised anyone before and then suddenly I was put in charge of ten Airmen. I applied the leadership skills that I had read about in this book and I was very impressed at how accurate the author was in all aspects of supervising. But most impressive was the fact that those same leadership skills that the author applied to his career decades ago were and still are the foundation of today’s military. I would highly encourage any young or experienced supervisor to read this book and apply those same principles. They work! I know from firsthand knowledge.

I have read this book from cover to cover. Roy Carruth offers an excellent perspective on different tactics involving leadership and motivation. He also incorporates several years of experience and first hand knowledge in his writings. He is very “down to earth” and conveys his views on Leadership and Motivation in a manner in which all can comprehend and understand! In addition to the above, I have had the pleasure of having this author as my supervisor when he was in the criminal justice system and contribute a large portion of my success to his supervisory skills. Simply put, the man was a walking moral booster and an excellent leader. Roy Carruth has been away from the criminal justice sytem for several years now, and to this date, everytime I teach a class on Principles of Supervision and ask for an example of a great leader and motivational person, those who worked with him always bring up his name!
